ok this is kind of a long story. first i got taken out of college due to money issues and i ended up homeless for a while. one of my friends who id known for a year suggested that i get an apartment with him and everything would be fine. wrong. i ended upi having to invest about twice as much money into the apartment than he did. he took the master bedroom and had me sleep in the floor of the closet space known as the second bedroom. then i found out he was an avid pot smoker. from morning toil night that was all he did was go into his room and smoke, and soon our entire apartment began to smell of pot. we were never around each other so we would write each other notes reminding each other of what to do while we were gone. everytime i would ask him to do something, like asking him to at least spray some airfreshener every once in a while, he would leave note upon note upon note telling me off and cussing me out and telling me i was a horrible roommate. i enbded up having to go to the cops once to report him smoking and they said they couldnt do anything because of the fact that it was a private residence and he would only smoke in his room. if he had smoked in a public area like the living room all i had to do was call them and he was busted, but he never left his room. eventually it got to where he was using my bath supplies instead of his own. when i asked him to stop he freaked out, verbally attacked me and tried to convince me that someone was breaking in to use our shower while we were away. then things got bad. so bad to a point where he broke our kitchen window with his fist and tried to convince me he accidentally did it with and airsoft gun. then he stole my car to go on a drug run. and tried to tell me the keys magically appeared on his bedspread. eventually things calmed down for a while. but after all this i heard him and some of his friends talking mess about me, calling me dumb fat ugly and stupid. his friends have never met me before. i kicked out his friends and told him to never talk behind my back and if he had something to say to me, he could be an adult and say it to my face. then things got worse. because i had called him out he began harrassing me with notes and began texting me at work, telling me i was the worst person in the world and i was better off dead. how nobody liked me and my personality (even though i was never at home enough for him to know) was annoying to everyone around me. he threatened to wreck the furniture i bought for the livingroom. (keep in mind in this apartment i had to contribute everything to the household. even groceries) and eventually he came in one night and verbally attacked me in the livingroom. then marched upstairs and began throwing things and wrecking the upstairs area. i feel threatened for my personal safety. i went to the police and filed a report because things are only getting worse the more i live with him. i am very certain that it will get physical soon. the police said all i have to do is sign the warrant and he will be arrested. after the visit with the cops i also found out that hes doing more than just smoking pot. what other drug he might be doing. i have no clue. but as it turns out, he told me he was a college student. the police did research on him and found out he was no longer a student anywhere. he doesnt have a car but hes constantly going onto campus nearby and never comes back until late. ive already talked to the landlord about trying to get him out of the apartment and i showed him the police report as proof of my fear for well being. the landlord refused to do anyting but call my roomate to let him know about me filing the report, which is making things worse. i haven been back home in two weeks for fear of getting hurt. should i sign the warrant. if i do and he gets arrested, one of his friends will bail him out and he would probably come straight for me. should i just get a small loan, pack my things and get out. i have so many thoughts in my head on what i can do that im confusing myself. please help.
i dont have anyone else that rooms with me and my roommate has already told me he refuses to move out and the land lord isnt doing anything about it.

First of all, we have ten people in the family- 2 parents, 8 kids. The girls are 8, 11, 13 and 22. The boys are 10, 14, 16 and 21. The two adult children live here because we have a big house, and we want them to. The girl is in college and the boy works.

Anyway, the two teenage boys(14 and 16)- are completely terrible, demonic BEASTS from hell. They constantly beat the younger kids to death, curse, scream at the top of their lungs, break windows, doors and furniture around the house, throw trash and food on the floor and refuse to help do anything, and take money all the time to spend on whatever they want.
The 16 year old is refusing to go to school- We’re trying everything and he just won’t go. He also stopped talking to his mom, his 22 year old sister, and his 14 year old brother- he completely cut them off. He beats up his 11 year old sister on almost a daily basis for no reason at all(for example, if she tries to eat ice cream and he thinks she’s eating too much), and she is a really tiny little girl- the size of the average 8 or 9 year old.

The 14 year old is ALWAYS screaming, fighting, cursing at his mother and oldest sister, throwing huge temper tantrums, and then begging for more money to go out to sports games and camps, and buy video games. He always gets what he wants. If we try to punish him, he will punish us- he will hide the car keys, pop car tires, smash all the windows, etc. until we give back his stuff.
If he’s spanked, he will say, ”That doesn’t hurt.”
If he’s grounded, he will steal money and go out anyway.or just go out without the money.

Yesterday, he threatened to kill his 22 yr old sister and called her a ‘freaking piece of sh**’ because she ate the extra slice of pizza. He had to be held down because he kept throwing heavy objects at her and trying to kick her bedroom door down.

The younger children are being influenced really badly by the teenage boys. The 13 year old girl and 10 year old boy also have major behavior problems, similar to the teens. The 8 and 11 yr old are constantly screaming and fighting as well, but usually because other people start with them.

Everyone throws trash on the floor and refuses to help do anything- no matter what. We’ve tried a chore chart, allowance, prizes, punishments, etc. There’s no way to keep the house clean at all when only the mom and sometimes oldest daughter do all the chores. The kids refuse to help change the bathroom garbage- they will throw toilet paper directly on the floor. They leave food, dishes, and candy wrappers in every single room, throw shoes and clothes in the middle of the floor, leave drinks spilled on the carpet, kitchen counter, etc. They throw furniture, toys, books, shoes, and everything at each other and then leave it on the floor.

What would you do if this was your life.
BellaRae, thank you.but did you read. I said the parents are trying all kinds of things and it just isn’t working.

On Saturday, my parents had a BIG argument. All week they had been arguing about Hurricane Irene, which flooded our basement and ruined the carpet and some of the furniture. Mom was mad at Dad because he has been very nonchalant about getting it fixedleaving Mom to make all the arrangements.

Anyhow, I had a bad cold and had planned to stay in bed sleeping, but when I woke up Saturday morning I heard Mom screaming at the top of her lungs and she threw a trophy at my Dad. He stormed out the house and Mom came to my room and asked if I wanted to go with her to visit my brother (he lives an hour away).

I really wanted to stay in bed sleeping, but I was worried for Mom, soI got up and we spent the entire day shopping at the outlet mall near where my brother lives. We left at 10 a.m. and didn’t get back home until like 9 p.m.

I went to bed.

The next morning, Sunday, my Mom wanted to hang out again. I was still feeling sick, so I told her that I was going to stay in bed until around Noon, then I would get up. She seemed irritated and said okay.

I got up at 2 p.m. and went to my boyfriend’s house. My Mom called me around 5 p.m. and asked if I was still planning to go to the carnival in our area. I told her yes and asked if she was going to bring my Grandma like we had talked about. She snapped at me, “I AM TIRED. I AM NOT BRINGING HER BECAUSE I DON’T FEEL LIKE IT.” and she hung up.

My brother texted me later and said my Mom was upset that I didn’t hang out with her.

Was I wrong. I mean I spent all Saturday with her. Was it really wrong to want to spend Sunday with my boyfriend. Keep in mind I live at home and I spend time with my mother regularly. It’s not like I was visiting for a weekend.

I love my Mom but I still have a life AND I did get out of bed and hang out all day even though I had a sore throat, fever and cough

Our bedroom has wood paneling that is pretty dark and not real wood . it makes our room seem so dark and closed in. We also have dark wood furniture and prior to here my decor was dark framed pictures, black/bronze wrought iron wall hangings . it seems way to dark now. I’d like to make over the room. My boyfriend does not want to paint or remove it (even though our landlord/friend gave us free reign). I was thinking of lightening it up with light colored curtains, bedspread and pictures. Our carpet is light beige thankfully. (Luckily the paneling in the rest of the place has been painted white) Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I’m a grade 12 student and all the previous years I’ve ever done any studying it was at the kitchen table, in the dining room, or on the floor of the tv room.

This year I really want to have a ‘legit’ area; I have a small table I can use however I’m not sure I can figure out where it is I want to be. See, my bedroom is rather small and I wouldn’t mind studying in there except that I know it will feel cramped with the bed and the dresser and the added desk; I would prefer to study in private too behind closed doors or something.

We have an office room at my house but it is the worst. It’s cluttered and filled with too much furniture and junk- I tried cleaning it out this summer but most of the stuff belongs to my dad so it’s really not up to me what to throw away + he’s not keen on cleaning.

So basically a space to lay out all of my books and stuff would be fantastic.

Idea, tips or suggestions here.
